Old Fashioned Christmas Open House

Experience the excitement in a restored 1805 barn festively decorated with fresh-cut greens in true New England tradition. Inside, 35 individual dealers offer an outstanding selection of period antiques including furniture in addition to a host of decorative items, accessories and collectibles. Relax in a holiday atmosphere and enjoy shopping in 6000 square feet stocked with treasures. You will quickly appreciate why EARLY AMERICAN HOME Magazine has highlighted the Salt Marsh Christmas Open House as one of the country’s best places to get into the holiday spirit!

This year nationally acclaimed folk artist Christopher Robertson will be displaying his 2009 Christmas collection and will be on hand to meet shoppers during the weekend. Robertson is a skilled artist who combines an innate natural instinct for painting and a connoisseurs understanding of 18th and 19th century decorative arts. His unique trompe l’oeil work has been widely commissioned and he is a welcome addition to the Salt Marsh family.
Enjoy the works of Gladys Desmond, the “Itinerant Painter”, in the style of Rufus Porter. A primitive folk artist who’s country style captures the essence of “New England Country” with the use of paneled boards as well as framed canvas.
Renowned Salem artist Charles Lang, well known for whimsical and creative artwork will be offering his “Snowman Whimsy Collection” These snowmen are a must see!
Another great feature will be the holiday décor by Newburyport’s “ Partridge in a Bear Tree” , widely known as New England’s most distinctive holiday and year-round gift boutique will be present and all décor being available to their customers.
Throughout the two-day event musical entertainment will be provided by The Three Amigos of Rowley. There will also be special entertainment provided during the two-day event. Refreshments will include mouth-watering chowder, baked ham, turkey , warm apple crisp and more specially prepared New England treats.
Salt Marsh Antiques will be offering Secret Santa Specials on certain lines of antiques and decorative objects for the month of December. Each week being a special offer, so please keep an eye on the web sight for the specials throughout the month.
Gladys Desmond will also be offering an “IT’S FOR ME” free raffle to all the guests. The gift will be an original oil by the Itinerant Artist, Gladys Desmond!
